The Synod is the general assembly which expresses the unity of all the churches. It is made up of deputies from local churches, an equivalent number of pastors and those responsible for particular sectors of activity. A variable number of members with consultative voice are added to the members with deliberative voice. It meets every year in Torre Pellice, in the Valli Valdesi, in the province of Turin, starting on the Sunday preceding the last Friday in August. It opens with a cult during which the future ministers, at the end of their studies and after a public examination, commit themselves to serve in the Church and are consecrated with the laying on of hands.
